Default help with A4>

i went to the track and gave the car a couple of runs..

track is at 5400ft

1st run: 14.41 in OverDrive
2nd run: 14.41 in Drive

in OD and D the car shifted at 5500rpm

after i left the track i was testing the "manual" shifting to see where the rev limiter was set at..

but the car just keep going and going at that scared me, even when the car was at like 6500 i shifted to second and the car took like half hour to shift..

anyway.. if i had shifted manually at lets say 6000rpm so the car keeps accelerating to 6500 and then the half hour happens and shifts into second, and the same for third.

Would that improove my et?

the car is all stock, stock rims on stock tire size.

any help is appreciated..

Maybe there's something wrong with your tach.... but anyways just let the tranny shift for you.. it does it just fine.

if you manually shift an automatic there is a slight delay and meaning that the tranny will shift itself anyway at the redline insalled in the computer. the new trannys are not like the old ones where you could shift it at 6k and it would shift at 6k now if you shift at 6k the delay will make it shift later like 65k or so. if you shift early it will go to redline so the best way to do it is leave it in OD and just look at where it shifts. If it is over the redline try a new fluid and filter. Hope I could help. This is what I have learned between doing the 2 things.

A good shift kit from trans go would help with the delay. I have been told by many people on this board DO NOT TRUST THE STOCK TACH AND NEVER EVER SHIFT IT MANUALY!!! It doesn't shift any better. BTW my stock tach is off about 400 rpm's

Leave it in OD and mash the gas peddle

The stock rev limiter is around 6,300 RPM.

My trans is completely stock, If I try to shift manual it will also run to the limiter. I just leave it in OD, And set the shift point's with edit. To really set them right you need to auto tap your run's & dial them in. My target with SI's were 6300 1-2 & 6400 2-3. I also rasied my limiter to 6500. Hope this helps.
