Default 60' techniques...

I need some suggestions...

I'm working with stock rear, Spec stg III clutch, and street tires. These tires are nice though in that they get really tacky with a good burn-out (I tested the theory today. They didn't get all slick like my old street tires did when they got too hot, instead they got all squealy and sticky .). I ran them at 22lbs pressure...

Today's best 60' was a 2.128. That was bogging at a ~3500 slip/dump. I have been slipping until the front starts to rise and then dumping the rest of the clutch. I tried a ~4k launch with a little bit faster slip/dump (but not a side-step) and that caught me some wheelspin and a 2.203 60'

I've heard of folks getting 1.9's and even 1.8's on street tires (not Nittos)...

Any tips? How did ya'll do it on stock tires, stock rear, M6?

I did a 2.0 with crappy 245/50/16 Eagle HP's that are dry rotting and cracked. I did a 3-3200 rpm slip fairly quickly. Of course, I have a LT1 with a cam that moves my powerband around, so your results may vary. I think that with a good 275 tire on a 17" rim i could probably have hit a 1.9 60', but I'll be going to a 275 DR on a 15" rim shortly, so i wont be able to test my theory. And I think that slipping higher could have gotten me better results.

One thing I did find was that I was able to dump the clutch amidst slip much earlier than I thought. While you may think that if you dump early, you'll spin, i found that if you dump just early enough, you'll actually hook and be able to go WOT making your 60' that much quicker. I had just over 25 passes in my car last year, and got my 60's down from a 2.3 on my first time ever launching it, to a 2.0 consistantly (either a high 2.0 or a low low 2.1) all 10 passes last time at the track.

A simple solution to your problem, some M/T ET streets, a good burnout, stage the car, rev up to (insert your rpm here), dump the clutch and no more 60' what if's

a simple problem to your solution - stock rear...

I'm getting a 12-bolt this summer, I just want to learn how to launch delicately on street tires first while I have the chance to. I think being able to do that would make me a better racer all around.

Hmm, the best 60' I ever go from street tires was a 1.98 in this car. Too much tq for 'em.

I would like help on this too. Even with Nittos the best I could venture is 1.93 on a 4k dump dead hooking and vertually no clutch slip.
