Default The Red Rocket is back underway!

I have taken about 4 weeks off but progress is back underway! I will keep you guys posted as the tale of the KTS Chassis unfolds!

I took the car from this at the Autorama:

To this:

Now that I have completed the grunt work under the direction of Dave, it is time for him and the crew at KTS to turn this 9.00sec chassis into a 7.50sec chassis.

I will continue to post the project progress. Tomorrow I have to get some measurements taken for the seat placement and funny car bars.

What did you use to drill the spot welds on the ribbed plate on the outside of the spring perch and framerail. I did not even attempt that, Pops and I cut a piece of flat plate to put back in there. I had tried on one but it was killing my spot weld driller, your's looks good.

I just used a spot weld drill bit. I had burn marks all down my chest from metal shavings. It is very time consuming and tedious work but with Dave being the perfectionist he is, I was not allowed to take any short cuts on my own car. LOL!! I would like to race at BG for sure. I need to have the chassis done in about 3 weeks, then 1 week for paint (might just go with primer for now), 2 weeks for electrical and plumbing, 1 week for final assembly, 1 week for de bugging, 1 day of TnT and then maybe I will be ready to make some passes in BG. We will see.

Here are some updates from todays progress at KTS Chassis:

I will keep you guys posted on the progress!

Thanks for the nice words, and the APE sticker will be gone.

Good to see you got the car back and everything is going again. Can't wait to see your car move down the track. Or FLY down the track anyway.

Thanks guy's!

The wheels are Bogart's and the missing paint is from stretching the wheel wells.

More bars and more pics. I am really excited and happy with the progress KTS has made thus far! It really does look bad *** in person!

It is nice to see things comming together so well. Pictures really do not do the craftsmanship of this chassis justice!!

More pics.... The cage is basically complete so the rearend needs to be shortened/hung and the mini tubs installed. The KTS team is definately getting their part done. I hope my new heads will be complete this week so I can work on actually having a complete ready to run long block this time!

Talk about sleeping on the job! Mike Fortuna (Tuna) welding like a mad.

Dave has really taught Tuna how to lay a clean bead with good penetration.
