Well the stock IRS won't help you much in a Corvette at the dragstrip, but the lightweight car and aerodynamic shape is helpful 
If you're building a full-on drag car and foregoing most of the stock components, then just pick the body style that you like best.

Or find someone else's unfinished project and finish it to your liking, and that may save you some money.
Only other thing: think about what you want to accomplish (goals, ET/MPH, etc) and then start asking questions to see how others accomplished it.

hmm if it was me i would get a camero or a Trans Am just because if your going to build i full out drag car then you might as well save the money and not get a Corvette. get a camero/Trans and spend the money on something else
