I vote for the th400 with a race build, they will handle just as much HP/Tq is not more than a Glide' will and you won't be sucha dog out of the hole. I went for a M21 muncie to a Th350 to a Glide' in my 78' Z28 and it was slower off the line than the previous two transmissions. If you do go with a th400, find a HD model from a truck or motor home with the bolt on rear yoke.

This topic always gets a lot of varying opinions. One thing is for sure - whatever transmission you choose, it's the total setup that makes the car work. Tranny gear, ring/pinion and converter all need to work with your setup to make you go the fastest.
