Default Anyone running a 16 volt 3 post battery?

Anyone running a 16 - 12 volt 3 post battery? How do you use it in conjuntion with the cut off switch? I am thinking of powering my after market BS3 ECM system and fuel pump with the 16 volt terminal and powering everything else with the 12 volt cable which will be run through the cut off switch. The 12 volt relays will cut off the 16 volts. Will I need a special relay for this? Or will the Radio Shack relays work.

Problem is there are 2 power cables.

I was thinking of powering the 16 volt thru a relay that is powered by the 12 volt. I guess that will work.

Anyone running the 3 post? TIA

PS I have the booster

Tom I usually run a double On/Off switch for the 3 post. Lately thou I just run a 2 post with everything thru the battery. You should see how fast the power windows go up on 16 volts.

madman, do you need a specific 16V alternator to keep the system working properly, if so, what else would you need to make everything work correctly

Madman, Will 2 cut off switches pass tech ? That would be the easy way. lol

I'll bet the windows go up real quick. won't that burn the window motor up?

With the 3 post you use a booster to charge the 16 volt side of the battery.

I don't know if this is what Madman meant, but in the electronics world there are things called DPDT switches, for Double Pole Touble Throw.

Basically they are the equivalant of two different switches tied in to one lever. They allow you to shut off two indepent circuits by moving only one toggle lever. I don't know if they make them in a battery cutoff configuration, but if they did, you would run the 16V on one circuit of the switch and the 12V on the other.

Tom I run 2 switches with one push/pull rod to control it. On my car I ran 16volts to everything on the car. I never had a problem with anything acting funny from the extra volts. I also had a 19volt alternator built to keep up with all the electronics.

Thanks for the help Madman and Zeus. I know what I'm going to do now

Tom I run 2 switches with one push/pull rod to control it.
Why didn't I think of that. It's so simple.
