Question Detachable Steering Wheels

Here is a completely moronic question, but...

can anyone explain how the quickly detachable steering wheels work? Can u do that with any Grant type steering wheel pretty much with some type of a kit... or do you have to get a whole nother (hehe) type of steering wheel?

I have an old, non-power steering, 69 dodge dart with a large (15") grant wheel (for more turning power). It also doesn't have tilt on the column, so its pretty hard to get in and out. It would be nice to have a quick release wheel like u see on nascar and nhra events.

Don't post much in this forum, so I appreciate all the responses I get lol

I can sell you a kit. Yes it works on the Grant wheels but it requires some welding to your steering column.

I've got one on my 93 TA. I bought a quick release adapter from jegs. It just bolts on, no modifications or welding needed. But with it being an older car I'm sure it is different. I have heard of having to weld them on the older cars.

OutlawZ, you should just be able the kit from Jegs. It will work with the grant wheel. It is made by grant for the Grant 3 and 5 bolt pattern wheels. And the good thing is, it just bolts on, no welding required. I think it is part #470-3021 from Jegs. I can check to make sure that is right if ya want me to.

I have the Grant quick disconnect on my '68. The splined coupler just bolts to the stock splined shaft and the hub works with any 5 bolt Grant or other wheel. Makes getting in/out way easier with a full cage.
