Default Anyone cut this out?

Has anyone completely cut out the area I have outlined in yellow? Both the top area that I have already cut holes in and the bottom of it as well. Basically just completely cutting that whole area off.

yes I have cut them on mine and another car. Made no difference in fender strength and it weighed like 5lbs each side.

Damn, getting serious up in here hahaha. I had never even thought about that area. So cutting that piece out, but leaving the mounting points doesnt alter the strength at all? And cuts about 5lbs each side? or more?

I might add that to my existing 10 point. Technically I'm sure cutting this out will weaken it a little but really and truly it doesn't look like it should affect anything to bad. I guess I might have to think about this one.

I think the difference between what looks to be hole sawed and cutting it out may not be ALL that much. Or is that how they are from the factory, the holes? Never had a good look under the fender

Oh well I cut it out today. Hopefully my hooptie doesn't fall apart as I go down the track. Both sides probably weighed about 5-7lbs total. I thought it would be heavier but 5lbs here 5lbs there and that stuff starts to add up.

That's a little more hardcore then this guy is willing to go to lighten his ride that's for sure. I'm concerned about the bumper cover being limp like a wet noodle with teh support removed... you're cutting the metal out of the car that is behind the 1/4's!!

No issues with cutting that off. We do it to most of the cars and for some other reasons too. It's only major purpose in life is to provide a support for the plastic fender (leaning on it and such). Other than that, it's only along for the ride.
