Question Taking out the front sway bar?

Is taking out the front sway bar worth it? Will I gain anything from this in an 1/8th or a 1/4?

It doesnt effect street driving at all man. I took mine out about 3 weeks ago and havent felt a difference yet, just come and go slower on the Highway. The swaybar and brackets weigh like 15#s so its well worth it. And the chassis is able to transfer power more easily since the front isnt all locked together. +1 for removal.

Take it off. Just remember that you can't enter and exit the highway at the same higher speeds you are use to. I would never put one back on my car after taking it off.

It's not really about the 15lbs of weight off the front (but that is good) it's about the front end no longer being connected. As stated above your car will transfer weight a lot better which will lower your 60' times which in turn will lower 1/4 times. I took mine off and gained 1.5 tenths in my 60' and 2.2 tenths in my 1/8 miles time. Yet another vote fot taking it off.

Note: IMO you will notice the difference more if you're on something like ET Streets compared to street tires.

I have heard arguments go both ways on this. Many say it transfers weight better but I have also heard of people who say they gained nothing by taking it off but noticed that with it still on the car they launched straighter. Take it off and try it out for yourself and see what you think. That's the best thing to do. It's fairly easy.

Just take the bolt out from either side of the bracket on the tire. That will "unhook your front end" try it out at the track and see how you like it. If you do take it all of man, weight is weight no matter how you cut the pie.

Thanks for all your comments guys I will be going to the track tonight and I will let everyone know how it went...I do have the mickey ET streets on my car so I'm looking forward to see if this helps me. I drove the car home today without the sway bar and really did not notice a difference in driving.

Wow do you guys not turn your car in normal driving? I always take mine off when I go to the strip, but it's back on the car in a day or two.

The best thing is try it your self. I did and did not care for the floating feeling I got at highway speeds when navigating trafic. Some people do not mind it. It will be a personal preference thing.

It's no big thang. I've had mine off basically since I got the car, and I can say that I still feel plenty safe at 150+ on the highway. ele-blue95, whose car is setup for autocross, thinks that it's plenty safe at those speeds, because he's ridden with me.

As long as you don't make any sudden movements at speed, you're fine. I've had to make many evasive manuvers here in my town, and I've been okay. The car still acts fine for everyday driving to me, and I still push it around turns hard.

My car will damn sure pop the front end up at the track though...

If you race a lot, take it off.
