Default Daily Driving weight reduction

I'd like to do some weight reduction in my car. However, its a daily driver so I am wondering what weight I can take off and keep off!

I already figured lightweight carpet-but what do you all feel about spray in bedliner instead of the carpet? Would that weigh less? It def. be a lot easier to keep clean too.

Back seats, spare tire, all plastic parts behind the drivers seat. What else can I do? I don't think I can drive around without bumper supports.

Tell me what else to get rid of!

Well I saw that-but I was wondering what parts I am able to remove and still be a daily driver safely.
I am obviously not going to remove my airbags and what not, but what about the bumper supports and other bigger pieces? Is it safe to drive around with no bumper supports?

If you know you're not gonna rear end someone you can take the bumper supports out. lol. So if your nostrodomis(sp?) you can predict the future, I'd yank them out. But seriously, for a daily driver I wouldn't remove them. Plus if something were to happen and your insurance agents finds out they may drop you and not cover the claim. Other things I can think off the top of my head would be:

Lightweight seats
gut the trunk
If you can afford it a tubular k-member helps alot!
Skinnies
a/c (depending where you live)
radio
Manual brakes and steering rack
lightweight brakes

Hope this helps. -Mark

Safe is a relative term.
I feel completly safe driving 90+ miles a day in my car.

I would not hesitate to daily drive my car either and its gutted pretty good.
Both bumper supports are gone, the air bags are gone, and it has manual steering.
I don,t have to drive it every day so I don,t but if I HAD to I would.
I think if your a careful driver that pays attention to whats going on around you it won,t be a problem.
I figure if its something my 71 Chevelle didn,t need it then my 94 Camaro don,t need it either. (I.E. airbags, ABS, cruise control, stuff like that)

Did you take the A.I.R. off of your car? I see you have an ory so therefore the A.I.R. is doing nothing but weighing you down. I also removed my A/C. I never used it anyhow. I removed the carpeting, took all the sound deadener off of it, and put it back in. I'm not sure how much all of this weighed but I'm sure it helped some.

I'm leaving the carpet off.
When I get my headers installed I will be removing the AIR and EGR.
Thanks for the tips, I'll give some of this stuff a try!

A fiberglass hood I'd think would be a good idea since you have a regular Z28 and a heavy steel hood like my T/A. About 40-45lbs for a stock piece, a VFN bolt on replacement was ~$320, $200 to paint, and weighs about 15lbs. So about 30 off the nose.

I agree with NHRATA...the fiberglass hood is unbelieveably light. VFN makes some nice hoods and there are other companies out there like Suncoast Creations and Harwood.

Mine still has carpet, two seats and all interior panels. It may weight 2700 lbs but i sure don't want it to look like it does. I hate the "tin can" look.
