Running out of gear?
so here's my set-up:
i've got a 6 speed car with 12 bolt (4.10s), 315/35/17 Nitto DRs, LS6 clutch, Hotcam (shifting at 6300-6400). did not seem to be excessive tire spin off of the line.
on an 1/8 mile track i was having to shift into 4th gear right before the end of the track, or else i would hit the rev-limiter in 3rd.
i thought that the car seem to be running out of breath at higher RPMs. i was just thinking that it may have been a slightly higher elevation, but i'm not sure that i trust my clutch (which i do not believe was slipping off of the line).
i will be going to a 1/4 mile track soon, and i'm wondering if i will run out of gear in 4th, since it will have to carry me completely down the 2nd half of the track. i've had 4.10s in my 10 bolt and finished the 1/4 at the very top of 4th (before cam swap).
will i run out of gear in the 1/4?
Thanks in advance!

To anwser your question though, you shouldn't run out of gear. you should be able to run 120mph with that gear/tire combo.

thanks for the input guys!
sorry, i ment to post up my 1/8 mile times
8.0 @ 88 MPH
there has been no weight reduction done to the car (weight addition with 12 bolt )
the two things that i was thinking is that maybe Mosier didn't send me the gear ratio that i asked for, i didn't count the teeth on the gears before i installed the rear cover so i don't know for sure. and the other thing is that maybe the clutch is slipping at higher RPMs, but it would seem to me that it would be slipping off of the line before it would slip at high RPMs.

^so i've been playing around with that chart alot, and it seems like 4.33s might be a possibility instead of the 4.10s that i think/thought it was.
is there even a possibility that the cluch could be slipping at higher RPMs and not slipping off the line?

I think you're right on the money as far as your 1/8th mile goes. On street tires, I ran all of an 8.82 at 90.X mph, spinning in every gear. Hit the rev limiter every time right before the trap. So i'd be willing to say you do have 4.10's in the rear because you're trap speed and situation is about the same as mine. I haven't run a 1/4 mile yet so I can't shed any light on your 1/4 mile. I've picked up some drag radials, so maybe now I can get my times down and speeds up a little
