Default T-tops shattering with slicks?

A friend told me today that with the added traction from slicks, it is very possible and has happened of people's t-tops shattering from the extra traction. Is this true or do I smell bs?

well...i have a 01 ws6 ta(t-tops)and for the last 2-years i cut 1.4 60's motor and 1.3 60's on spray. i pull the front wheels 3-feet or a little more on every luanch. i have nver had a problem and they don't leak in the rain.
my bud in his camaro ss has also never had a problem,1.5 60's motor.

I would say bs since I have seen many people go really fast with very low 60 ft times with TTOPS...but then if someone left them unhooked then it might break or come out .

that could be very likely to be true since this guy was a hardtop.

That would take a lot of frame twisting.

Might as well throw in the rear window while you're at it. -Mark

get some sub frame connectors if you are going to dead hook it or the chassis will flex some over time... i dont think it will crack windows.... but anything is possible with enough power and no support

my buddy made jokes about me popping a t-top on launch after i got my 4k stall...saying he would laugh when i had to stop and re-insert the t-top. i simply replied with, "if i pop a t-top launching, there's no way i'm stopping..that was a badass launch!"

Only issue I have seen/heard about T Tops:
1 Leave them unlocked and or loose fitting and watch them leave during high speed, when pressure differences are there like rolling a window down while doing triple digits.

2 Every year we T's have to worry whether the NHRA is going to **** us over by playing with the convertible top rules. And every year someone posts the new rules changed I have to run a full cage to race.....and then later find out its BS.

I have seen and heard of windshields cracking and sunroofs/moonroofs busting and/or popping out. But, I have never heard of or seen a ttop crack or shatter due to launching hard on slicks.
