Default HVAC removal...

well in some off time between meetings, i found time for the internet.

now my question is, for the heater core, where are the bolts. I remember hearing about the one up top from the engine bay, but as I'm looking around behind the dash, i can't see any more bolts. I have 2-3 removed from the bottom and I got to those from INSIDE the car.

Anybody have the exact count and location of the bolts needed to remove on the heater core? I searched and people talked about removing it, but no exact locations for the bolts

Chris

That one is a PITA. I have my tranny out anyway waiting for a bellhousing so it was easy for me.

once you get all those...it'll pull out from the inside of the car in one piece

i kept looking searching and found this buried in a post.

there is one in the engine bay right behind the intake. It's possible with the intake on but pretty tough. Just keep taking all the bolts out until the dash is out and it's pretty straight forward from there. I think there are 6 bolts across the top of the dash once the upper pad is removed and at least that many on the bottom. Not counting the gauge cluster and all that .

There are 4 bolts from the engine side holding it in.

IIRC there are two at the top, 1 on the left side (remove the PCM for easy access) and I believe 2 or 3 by the engine. I think there is 3 or 4 inside the car itself.

Or something like that. I was looking for pics in the Helms manual but couldn't find any.

I didn't take any others out from the engine bay. Just pulled the whole unit out from inside. I don't think it's possible any other way without using a hammer.

I was able to remove the whole HVAC system without breaking a clip, or anything for that matter.

Someone put it together, it can come apart.

Just take your time and be patient.

FWIW I spread it out over 3 days. A little bit at a time.

I knew if I tried to do it all in one day I would break out the hammer

That's what I'm doing. The dash is already out, that was the easy part(sorta, haha)

now it's just the core having to come out, so i need to find some more time to work on it
