1000' times

How do you convert 1000' times into 1/4 mile times? I was told you add 2 sec to your time and that would give you a 1/4 mile time... Any truth to this?

What I do since all the tracks in Arkansas are 1000' or 1/8th mile tracks is just take your timeslip and go to the Timeslip Database on this website. Then compare your timeslip with a car that has similar 60, 330, 660 and 1000' times and see what it ran in the 1/4. Just my two cents.

I asked the same question a while back on z28.com and got this formula and I know its crazy but it actually works really well. Its usually within a tenth or so everytime.

1000ft. / 1.1 x 1320 / 1000 = 1/4 mile time

ex: 11.3/1.1 = 10.27 x 1320 = 13556.4 / 1000 = 13.56

the 2 second deal will get you close. I would compare eight mile times and convert those to 1/4 times.
