Default Removing power steering

Ok, I was just curious about this. When you get rid of the pump do you have to bypass the connections on the rack or could you just block them off? Also, what will the steering difference be by either bypassing or blocking off? Thanks in advance.

I just bent the hose into a U and hooked it to the other outlet.
Steering feel is great till you go slow and try to turn, then it sucks. Just make sure your rolling and won't suck as bad.
I am used to it now but at first it will be hell.

That's what I did too. With skinnies it's not that bad.

is there any bypass pully that you need?? also how bad is it on the street?? can you use the stock rack and pinion without the pump?? thanks

No bypass pulley, you will have to low mount the alternator.
This is really cool on LT1s cause the WP is driven from the back so all you have is an alternator and a short 36 inch belt.

On the street with skinnies its not bad. I would not want to daily drive it.

I have the stock rack bypassed in my car now with no problems so far. A manual steering rack will make it easier to drive though.

mine is a lsx car and already has th low mount alternator, what is needed to do to "loop" it and does anyonw have the belt number to be used with this and a electric water pump??

So I tried both. I found out that you don't want to block them off. The pressure builds up and nearly makes it impossible to steer, especially right for some reason. I did what the other members here recomended, looped the factory lines. The only problem I am having right now is a lsmall leak through one side of the lines.


As far as the belt size, which only goes from the alternator to the blancer. If you have an underdrive pulley, I believe the belt length is 30.5 inches and is six ribbed making the last four of the part number something like 06305 the first couple numbers depends on the manufacturer. I bought mine at winchester auto, I think you can also find it at napa.
