Console delete pics

I'm probaly getting rid of my console because with a quarter stick it is just in the way. I have it hacked up right now and it looks horrid. I need to know about carpet options and where you guys mounted guages and more so switches. Right now for switches: I have line lock, nitrous arm, and bottle heater and guages: trans temp, and soon oil pressure. All help appreciated.

you can run the hurst shifter with the center console. just takes some time and fabrication

i honestly hate the deleted console look, but that is just my personal opinion.

i kept mine and i put my shifter up higher and rotated a bit, so in a sitting position i just pull straight back when i want to shift. my interior isn't the cleanest right here because i was about to take out the HVAC stuff, but you get the idea.

plus i'm a taller guy, so sitting position is perfect so i'm not reachign around to make that next gear change compared to a shifter that is exactly parallel to me

If you use the base from an a4 shifter to start off for mounting the hurst quarterstick, it will look clean. I am putting a quarterstick with a pistol grip in my transam now, and am notching a a4 center console with the shifter, I'll try to get a pic of it up when it's done, probably end of this week, early next week. It will look pretty clean, as I'm modeling mine after another car that was done the same way that came out looking very clean.

This setup looks really good. Definately something to keep in mind. I'm not so much of a fan of leaving the console in place either.

I like the way dope's car looks too, but I still have the e-brake in my car and the airbags, if I ever take them out and do the LW carpet, then that will probably be the route I'll take, I figure if the airbags and the e-brake aren't needed the console isn't either at that point.

Hey DopefedZ is that the lightweight carpet? I take it that it isn't pre cut? That is the route I was considering instead of trying to put some randon piece of carpet in there that will probaly look botched anyway.

Slow Z28 09-20-2006 09:25 AM

well i'll stand corrected. Dopefedz's setup looks pretty badass

n2o 09-20-2006 10:22 AM

Also is there anywhere to get the carpet besides speed inc.? TSP said that they have ordered theirs from Year One but I called them and they said that theirs was pre-cut.

DopeFedZ 09-20-2006 11:08 AM

All I did was go to a local auto upholstery shop in town. They had rolls of every color you could think of made from different weights and carpets. I paid like $50 for the carpet.

u guys have any pics of how u mounted them to get them raised

JL ws-6 10-01-2006 10:33 AM

I dopn't have any pic's, but we started with an A4 shifter, everythign got cut off the plate itself, and a couple pieces of round bar were welded to the plate to raise it up some. My shifter's 3rd gear lever just touches the dash, it's leaving a tiny little mark on the dash pad, other then that it fits perfect, very little was cut off the console, it does push the console up a little while it's in the middle of the motion, I could probably grind a little off here and there to stop it, but it's nto that big a deal, looks better this way IMO. I got several compliments on how it looks so far, so it must be o.k. I need to get a digital camera, so I can take some pic's of it now that it's all done.
