Hoosier D/R tires
Has anyone here done any testing with the Hoosier D/R tires?
Could any comparisons be made to the M/T's?
How did the compound compare? How about the sidewall? softer or firmer?
I see they are measurably lighter tires and wonder if that's an advantage or not?
thanks
Todd
Specifically looking for feedback from mid 9 to low 10 second cars.

Never had experience with Hoosier, but the majority of people I race with run M/T... I've run a 1.48 60 foot on a 275/60/15 M/T drag radial on the way to a 10.57 at 126 mph pass, so I know they work.

I've been running the M/T Et Radials for a few years now. I ran the 275/60 last season due to class rules and was running 10.0's with 60's in the 1.38 to 1.42 range.
This season making a little more power I tried the 295/65, then settled in running a pair of 325/50's running 9.60's with a 60' best of 1.32, typical 1.34 to 1.36.
My complaint with the M/T's is they hook great on a good track, but are hit/miss on marginal tracks. I know it's a fine line with radials as they aren't as forgiving as a bias ply tire, but thought some of the attributes of the Hoosiers might make them a decent alternative over the M/Ts. Two of the racers I ran with last season both switched to the Hoosiers and both found better run to run consistency with the Hoosier tire.
I was just hoping to find others who had first hand experience with the Hoosier D/R tire.
If we get stuck in a rut thinking one tire is the best out there, then we surely would all be still using BFG's and never made the switch to the M/T's. At some point someone has to step up and try something different, good or bad results. I may just have to try a set next spring myself and see if my hunch is correct or not.

the GB boys tried them out this weekend, myself in my 3700 pound all leather street cra drove it to the track friday night and hit it off the t-brake 4 times and cut 1.44 and 1.45 60's and ran a best of 10.42@129.3 N/A (10.4's all night yanking both wheels) drove it home and atvracer put them on his car the very next day and left on the nitrous, put it on the bumper and stood it straight up in the air only to break the tranny case and oil but he did cut a 1.44 60 on the bumper. I like these tires alot and they seem to have a very stiff sidewall and I would reccomend these to you! Dont forget that these tires are about 8 pounds less a piece then the m/t but the m/t have a better tread pattern on them for a more everyday use.
