Well, there are very few battery manufacturers in the US (I believe 3) and I'm willing to bet that battery is built to the Odyssey PC680 specs by the same manufacturer that builds there's. However, I would still probrably pay the extra $25 for the name brand.

I'd give it a shot. I did a quick a google and there are actually about 5 Lead Acid manufactuerers. I ran across a flyer from Hawker/Odyssy saying they produce all their plates, posts, and cases in house but, that was a marine battery flyer so who knows.

Did you check gotbatteries.com? PC680 is $90 shipped to my door.

I am going to try running a Diehard gold lawn tractor battery. I need to weigh one, but I would guess its 15-20 lbs lighter than my current battery. It has 340 CCA and costs like $40. Also has a 1 year full replacement warranty.
