Rocker Bars For 9 Second Certification?
IHRA is different though, their sportman cert needs one if I remember.
I just got my car certified by the Div-4 NHRA inspector, and we added a driver's side underfloor rocker bar for additional safety factor, but it was not required. I added two front crossbars as well cross-car behind the dash for added protection as well. Those were not required either since my front of dash (firewall) was not cut / modified. I run a HANS device, too, for safety, that is obviously not required...yet. I believe in 2008, an approved head and neck restraint device will be required as well for 9.99 and below certification.
As **** as I am on stealthy weight reduction, my kids and family are driving me to have a safer car than I ever would have worried about in the past. Not preaching, just stating my own personal choice.
Below is a link to who did my work in the Dallas area. Mike Brink and his team (Ryan and Page) do great work, do it in the timeframe he states, but are NOT cheap...I got fantastic quality work as I expected and demanded on my certified cage plus wheelie bars. I would, and will with other projects, use him again on what I don't feel like undertaking myself.
Take care to all, happy holidays, and may we all meet our personal and racing goals in 2007! Dave
