more important E.T. or 1/4 mile time?
like the title says which one is actually more important? im trying to understand the whole 1/4 concept and all. and i dont get how some people when they race at the track one car obviously finishes first but still loses because of the reaction time?

you mean RT (reaction time) or 1/4 mile time?
The timers dont start until the car moves so you can sit there for 10 minutes and still run the same ET.
If you are bracket/heads up racing in competition if the ETs are close reaction time makes all the difference between a win and loss.

Are you talking about bracket racing?
Heads up racing is winning by crossing the line first.
ET shows how well your car is setup for running in the 1/4 mile (a lot of the setup is in the first 60 feet)
mph shows how much power your car is making

Well.....can we assume that you meant RT instead of ET.....
Like everyone has been telling you. Depending on the series/class that you are racing in/watching......there are different factors that are considered. Either way, your RT when racing will typically be one of the most (if not the most) important factor.
Take NHRA for example...funny car, top fuel, pro stock.....etc
A car could run a faster 1/4 mile time and mph faster.....but if the slower car (in terms of ET) cuts a faster reaction time (aka: cuts a better light) and gets to throuh the traps before the other car..........well he wins even though he ran a slower 1/4 time
Hope this helps
