I'm using these guys and have the trailer and car insured by them, only time the car isnt covered is going down the dragstrip, its covered in the pits, staging lanes and the return road. Even if I send my engine to a machine shop and its gets stolen in transit or from the shop its covered also. Only thing is the car cant be registered or street driven at all and you have to own an enclosed trailer..

I asked my old insurance co. about insurance on my track car and they were freaking out and saying no way that car could get any kind of insurance from them and they said there is no way they would give me any type of life insurance either. only thing I wanted was something to protect the car agaist theft or a wreck while its on the trailor.

Kincaid (www.kincaidracinginsurance.com) is great to deal with as he is a Sportsman racer himself. His race car policies are underwritten by Lloyd's of London. I use Wally Smith (972-424-5541) here in the Dallas area who is underwritten by someone else, but I used Kincaid when I was in Michigan. They both have policies that read almost tit-for-tat to the letter.
A few facts about the insurance that most of the companies offer: before you flame on me, read YOUR policy...
1. It's an agreed value coverage, but you'll need receipts if your car is stolen or whatever...you bet they are going to dig into the specifics of the vehicle and the claim before they cut you a BIG check,
2. Key-off insurance unless you pay LOTS more...if the key is on, no coverage,
3. If you have an OPEN trailer and spend the night somewhere, no coverage,
4. You have to keep the car locked up each night at your home or pre-approved location (you take it to someone's shop, call the insurance agent ahead of time and when you get it back),
5. If you make a claim, the underwriters will review your state's Department of Motor Vehicle records...if you car is registered, i.e., a "street" car, no coverage as it says non-street driven / non-registered cars ONLY.
What this boils down to is the more money you sink into your car, you better decide if you are going to take it off the street as far as being registered and get "race car" insurance. I know the routine of lots of us having tons of money sunk into the car praying it doesn't vanish.
Unless you got some inside hook with your "normal" insurance man, when your 427 C5R motored car gets stolen or sucked up in a tornado, you'll be lucky to get much of anything out of the insurance company.
I feel a lot better about having my Firebird insured properly and following the rules on this. Take care. Dave
