Default Need help launching

so ive got an a4 and im gettin ready to go to the track(1/8 mile) within the next few weeks. Ive been once before without the new vig 3200 and i launched from about 1100 rpms, eased on the gas a bit and then nailed it and hooked just about as perfectly as i could (with street tires). So like i said im going again shortly and i want to launch harder (hence the vig) but now everytime i try to launch on the road say from about 2500 rpm or less i just spin and dont hardly move.
Any tips for launching better (maybe techniques or even adding weight in the back of the car) that i can use coming up. oh and new tires arent an option due to funds so is there anything else i can do for a bit more traction???

With out good drag radials(not Nitto drags) you won't get to use the potential of the new stall. If you do have good tires you can approach the launch from two different ways:

1. Stall up as much as you can without pushing the front tires through the lights
I have found that for me it gives me a better ET but not a better 60'

2. Stall the car up just enough to tighten the drivetrain 1000-1200. Stomp the crap out of it and it will flash to 3200. It will give you a better 60, but it may not give you the best et.

You will have to make several passes and decide which one is the best for you. If traction is an issue you will probably need to stall it up to 2000 instead of letting the converter flash.

I am trying to figure all of this out myself so maybe someone else will chime in and give you some more info........hope that helps.

thanks for the input hawk,
I've herd of guys letting some air out of the tires before running, that this might help in getting some traction on the launch.
Neone have a claim about this or any other pointers?

I run my Mt's at around 20lbs. When I start launching on the bottle I may have to go as low as 15. with street tires you will let air out until you get to a point when you are griping with the side edges of your tires. if you are running street tires take a look at your burnouts. if you have two darker strips on sides of each tire marks, put some more air in them. make sure that your burnout marks are even. if you don't have DR's already, you are going to have to invest in some.
