Default Parachute question

What style chute are you guys running and how do you like it?

I am looking at the stroud with the launcher but my weight of 3500 and the 155 or so we would like to see the thing tells me to get a prostock chute.

If anyone has a stroud and has pulled it what one is it and did you have any issues?

Stroud is the best in my opinion. You need the Prostock #430 with launcher. They have 2 options either air or spring. If you are running NOS then I use the NOS bottle as a supply for the chute. The air style is lighter.

Is it just for weight? if the spring and gas launcher is the same price why not use the spring and not have to tap the n2o system? just woundering im new to the chute deal.

Stroud chutes hit nice and soft, they are the best I have used.
The air launcher is much safer to use and my personal favorite. You can add the air assist handle/lever and your hands never leave the steering wheel.
The spring launcher is a pain in the rear to reload.

good info just one question when you deploy the chute does it just use a little bit of nitrous then have a valve that shuts or does all you nitrous leak out.

You dont lose but about a 1/32 of a lb. I use a CO2 bottle with our boost controller AND chute and I can run around 15 passes on a 2 lbs bottle.

sorry I have never had any experience with this how do you do it with the bottle pressure being so high. Some kind of a regulator? How do you set it off with something like a nitrous silinoid? Can I get some pics?

I run a Stroud spring loaded. It comes with a small pilot cute that drags the bigger chute out upon release. I did have a problem one time (it didn't fully deploy) - of course it had nothing to do with the person that packed it I don't deploy it every time. I agree the spring loaded one is a PIA to reload.

I carry the Stroud stuff. The ProStock chute runs $350.00 The launcher runs $305.00. A cable kit with handle runs $89.00. The air launcher requires a regulator which is $80.00.

Brian, if I ran the air assisted launcher I could use a button on the wheel rather than a lever right? Do you make a chute mount "kit" or is there one that you would suggest?

Spring loaded Stroud Pro-Stock bought from Madman.

Definitely takes some getting used to load the spring pilot chute by yourself. With a helping hand it's easy.

I'd show it open, but if you see that you've lost the race

.

Fast car, dual Stroud with the cannon spring launchers. Love them.
Most of us removed the air kit. Saw too many guys NOT deploy and at our speeds not worth the chance. Lines break, get pinched, forget to turn on or fill bottle ect ect.
I know it's easier, but it only takes ONCE.

Slow car, single simpson, basic spring with pilot. 3200lbs 159 mph
raced at the Grove & Byron, both very very short tracks.

The cannons are big, bulky ect, but I love the crank set up, gets my vote.
Good luck
