Convert power steering to manual?
Convert power steering to manual? How much weight does itsave to remove the P/S pump, and block off the lines at the rack? Any way to do this other that a $500 manual rack? TIA, Shawn

I removed the power steering pump, and looped the two hydraulic lines from the steering rack back to each other.
Total weight loss isn't much (7lbs?), but every little bit adds up, the PS pump eats up HP (again, not but a tiny bit), and it cleans up the engine compartment a bit.
No doubt a true manual rack (like Madman sells) would be better all around, but they aren't cheap.
