Question ET help?

I busted off an amazing 8.6@84 best 1/8 the other day at Kennedale(texas raceway) but that was with 87 octane fullweight and leaving the shifter in D(02' WS6) it only has a lid and cutout and some BFG DR's thats it but will it help to run at least 93 octane and try leaving the shifter in 3rd(D no OD) is there anything I can do to make it drop ET other then the obvious bolt on's? the day was very, very hot and very humid so cooler weather would probably drop a tenth ot two?

Firstly, you should NEVER run 87 in your car. ESPECIALLY if you plan on racing. Switching to premium will knock some time off for sure.

Secondly, it doesn't matter if the shifter is in D or OD, it will still shift the same in the first 3 gears anyway.

Just play around with your launch technique. Try stabbing the throttle off idle, stalling it up a little bit, rolling into the throttle, etc. What works best will depend on how good your tires are. For example, my '01 Z left the hardest when I left off-idle and flashed the converter.

Cooler, drier weather will help too.

You could always take off the sway bar and make a custom ram air.

And off the topic were did you get that pic off cro cop in the streetfighter alpha form.

Run 93 octane. Car was designed for premium gas.

On your gear selection, read here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/removed-locked-thread-graveyard/430639-a4-guys-what-gear-do-you-drag-race.html

Good luck, keep practicing and you'll get the times down!

I will run 93 octane next time for sure! gas prices being so damn high I barely had enough money to go and race! I will pull the sway bar next time and I'm having a buddy build me a custome X pipe to go on the factory manifolds to see if that helps but I know it will at least sound better! any other suggestions? also the DA was 2245 at 2pm!

Yes, "Knock Retard" as in the computer retarding timing to compensate for knock.

As opposed to calling someone a retard LOL

Man, with all the **** wrong with your last outing to the track, you'll probably run a 8.0 next time if you correct everything!

LOL, you know I was just so excited to be back at the track with a car that was not breaking something after every pass! hopefull with the DA alot better, lowering the tire pressure for better 60ft's,pulling some extra weight out, better gas(93 octane at least),no front sway bar, testing the 3rd,D gear selection theory,LOL, and maybe some delete's here and there and hopefully(god and wife willing)my PT 4000 stall and tranny cooler installed I might just touch a little better ET!

You can't do much about the DA being higher (unless you can control the weather or drive to Alaska to race in the summer) so just know there is time left on the table for cooler temps.

with the gas prices just shooting for the sky I barely had enough cash to get me and my kiddo's in the track! but now that I know I will use the 93octane and maybe a little octane booster or torco? and hopefully with cooler weather, lowering the tire pressure and some weight reduction I can drop a few tenth's?
