cam is approx $300-400.....its all the supporting valvetrain mods that cost the money. valvesprings, pushrods, lifters, etc.. then i dont know if you're gonna do the install yourself or not, but that can cost a pretty penny also. a mild cam could do just fine

N/A there is my route there is plenty left in her too I am still leaving the line at a measly 3K

Check my website for ideas

The stall and tire will help you the most.Even a small Zo6 cam.You can get one used for$75 and up.

staringback05 May 26, 2007 03:45 AM

if you ran a 12.4 with those mods, with tires and a stall....you'd hit high 11s....

davered00ss May 26, 2007 07:41 AM

Tires, stall, gears, weight reduction or cam

davered00ss May 26, 2007 07:42 AM

Nitrous always works too.

what about a cam? how much would a mild one cost and how much is installation on one of those? would i have to get anything else done if i went with the cam? what are the negatives on installing one?

Depending on how big of a cam you do with, some drivability will be lost. But it sounds like you are leaning towards a smaller one anyways, so you should be fine. As far as costs, I bought a used cam (225), pushrods (100) 198 springs (~170), oil pump (130) and timing chain (30). After gaskets and such i spent right around 700 for parts on my cam. I did install myself, but i would imagine it would cost a couple hundred to have it installed. Then, after that you need ot have the car tuned, which is a few hundred more depending where you go. I had mine dyno-tuned for 275.

I would sugggest getting a torque converter first. A lot less can go wrong, and its easier to put in, and cheaper. There is nothing like hitting the gas and taking off like a freight train! A properly matched stall can drop 1/2 second, which is what you are looking for.

TheSecretFormula May 26, 2007 10:58 AM

Yeah a stall is gonna run you about $700 + install and a cam will be in the same ballpark. Sticky tires aren't too expensive but the rear end you will need after you break the 10 bolt on them is. Probably your cheapeset bet would be a 100 shot, it should get you in the 11's on it's own. Once you hit mid 12's really nothing comes cheap anymore.

Good stall, sticky tires, bolt-ons and a decent raceweight should get you there.

what are the pros and cons on getting a stall for a daily driver for the streets? thanks

MikeG Jun 12, 2007 04:36 PM

Yank SS3600 or Vig 3200 and some M/T ET Street radials. I see you have a prokit and LCA's? Do you have relocation brackets too? Cuz if you don't, you should. Your 60' times will drop to low 1.7s easily. Maybe 1.6x's.
