optima question

optima question ok so i relocated my battery to the trunk but i got an optima now and its to big for my box, my question is because the optima is a jell battery does it still have to be sealed in a box and vented? i tryed searching its not workign right now

According to the current rulebook, no. Wet cell batteries produce Hydrogen fumes while charging. This is why NHRA mandates a sealed battery box vented to the outside of the vehicle. Dry cell batteries are completely sealed and do not produce any fumes at all. Eventually dry cell batteries will become legal for use inside the vehicle but for now it is up to your local track official. >

You are correct Brandon. I dont agree with it but NHRA says all batteries must be sealed from the passenger compartment.
