Default First time on track!! What i do wrong??

OK.. I took my 98 T/A down the 1/4 six times today just to see what she would run. I have to say im a little disapointed. My worse pass was 14.1509 @ 100.44mph. With a .1521 reaction and a 2.2798 60ft. My best time was 14.0098 @ 101.35mph. With a shitty .7281 reaction and a 2.2720 60ft.

Now it was hot. Really hot today. 95-100 temp, with track temp around 135-140. The car did spin a little off the line but not to bad. I just really thought she would run mid to maybe upper 13s with it being that hot??

Ok heres the low down on my ride. Its a 98 base model Trans Am with a little less than 54K on the clock, a stock A4 trans and a stock rearend. I had about 3/8s tank of fuel in it and I cleaned her out so there wasnt any extra weight in it. Now my mods are SLP air intake system, march underdrive pulleys, hedman long tubes with 3in offroad Y. Flowmaster system from the Y back. I have taylor wires and Ngk plugs. SLP fan controls, the cars temp was around 180 or so during the runs. Now i do have eibach prokit on the car and i know that will hurt my times abit. I have 18in ZO6s on the car with a good set of 285/35 nitto nt555s on the rear. I was running 30psi in the rears.

So what can i do?? Now ive read on here that my cars got shitty knock sensors from the factory and they pull too much timing out?? If someone could explain this a bit more id love that. How much gain will i get from upgrading to the newer style sensors??? I think im going to do an intake swap here in a month or two and will probly swap the sensors then. Another question i have is what size dragradial can i fit on my stock 16in wheels. I was thinking like a 26/10.5. Will these hook better than my 285 street nittos??

Ok so my future plans are RPM Speed 3-Point Subframe Connectors (should be in next week). LS1 Power+Plus Typhoon Manifold. I would also love any info on this intake. Are there differences or other things involved when doing an intake swap on a 98?? And then last on the list is maybe a little 100 shot nitrous kit over next winter.

I know i have alot of questions but i really need ur guys's help. Thanks for all ur input!!

PS: I know i could do a big stall and lower gears but i think im going to leave that stuff stock 4 now. Thanks!!!

If you dont have a cutout get one becasue the flowmaster is killing you. Plus you cant expect much when its that hot out, I would expect to drop 2 tenths with 60* air.

I say a tune is in order. You should also see a 3-4 tenths pick-up with good traction (i.e a mid to low 2.0 60 foot time, which will come with practice and trying different launching techniques). I'd run a 255/50/16 drag radial on the 16" rim, and you'll hook fine. My car cuts 2.04 60 foots and usually runs 13.30s-13.40s in hot summer air and 1.93-1.97 60 foots and 12.9-13.0 times in cold air with a 26 x 9 M/T sportsman pro tire with the stock converter and 3.23 gears. So there's more left, just have to chip away at it.

Remember, you're out racing, and have fun while you get better at it!
