which ones are better and why, it will be for a hotcam-only ssf3800 stalled camaro, running stock 3.23 gears in fl, at sea level. they will be on a spare set of rims so matching them wont matter

go with the 16 inchers as you get more sidewall. sidewall is good and more of it is better.

I used to have the 17s and had a hard time hooking...Switching to the 255 50 R16s dropped my 60's by 2 tenths...More sidewall > more width..

I had ET streets on my old Camaro on salad shooters and those hooked significantly better than my current 275/17 BFG drags. Two different tires, but still, the taller sidewall is going to compensate above and beyond what that tire lacks in width.
