Default Torque Arm Question - "Instant Center"

I was reading in GMHTP and there is a great article about the MADMAN suspension components. The article talked about setting your adjustable torque arm up properly to give the desired pinion angle. Mine is set to -2 for an automatic car.

From the article:

"The number one component to make sure the tires don't unload, spin, or hop is the TA......I can alter the TA angle so that the INSTANT CENTER can be set up in relation to the ride height, allowing the car to transfer power properly."

Can someone explain to me what the INSTANT CENTER means along with the relationship to ride height?

" Simply measuring a driveline angle (difference between driveshaft and pinion angle) can lead to pinion angle setups that are inapproperiate for the car."

How can you tell if your geometry in not set up correctly?

Here's an article about "instant center". It's about four link suspensions but it might help you get a better understanding of it. I don't really understand all of this suspension science and tend to just listen to folks like Madman...
