Street Tires at the Track

The best way to figure out a good pressure to start with is doing a short burnout (do not hold the brake, just drop the hammer and spin the tires) across a clean piece of concrete or asphalt (concrete is easier to read the patch). You want a nice clean even patch, so try and keep it straight.
Dark in the center and light on the sides = too much air

Street tires won't give as good traction as a stickier drag radial or slick, but if you learn how to launch on them, 2.0 60 foots can be done.
FYI, I run my 245/50/16 tires at 25-27 psi, and have gotten a 2.00 60 foot in good air on a stock converter with 3.23 gears 2000 Formula.
