can you launch a 6 spd in second gear???
this may sound like a strange question, but for the sake of traction and a 1.78 ratio, i would imagine i may likely get a better launch with my somewhat light car running a 4.56 gear/27" tire combo. is this ok to do? i would like to know if the trans can handle it more than anything.
anyone ever tried it with slicks or similar?
thanks.
i wasn't looking to compromise, i was told by a few that i would have a hard time hooking with that size tire/gear/trans setup. i'm yet to take it to the track to find out, just wondering in case i can't get it to hook. the 2nd gear ratio would make it similar to racing with a power glide, except with another gear between 1st & 2nd.

1.78 * 4.56 = 8.12
8.12/2.66 = 3.05
It would be like launching in 1st with a 3.05 gear.
If you launch in first and shift at 6000 rpm you will run out of gear at ~37 mph.
If you launch in second and shift at 6000 rpm you wont have to shift till ~56 mph.
When your trying to get the best times your gonna have to be hard on the clutch/trans no matter what gear your in... try it and see if the car likes it.
