Nope, Never changed the design. Looks like a difference between the Camaro and Firebird rear bumper cover is what you are seeing.

The camaro plate does sit higher then the firebirds do.

Here is where the plate has to be cut, on a TN plate all that would cut off would be the middle part of Tenessee.

It would be cool to turn the stock ebrake handle into the chute handle.

How much clearance do you have between the bumper cover and the bar running up where the chute bag mounts? On mine that bar keeps running the paint off my bumper cover since its touching it. I was thinking about trying to move it out a little so I don't have to keep repaining the bumper cover.

About 1/2 inch, It was almost touching so I made a couple 1/8" shims on the top two bolts and it it moved it away plenty. It may move back after I use it a few times depending on which way it pulls at speed.

Anyone have any doubts about if the 8 small bolts that most use for these mounts will hold?? We were looking at mine and we had our doubts about it holding up for a long period of time.....

I think those eight 7/16 bolts on the rear subframe will hold just about as well as the weld on the tubing where the chute line attaches. May even be as strong as the eight 3/8 bolts that hold the four brake calipers on the car

My main concern would be those bolts pulling through the sheetmetal, it depend show fast you go and how big of a chute you use as well. I would assume anyone planning on going 170+ would have their chassis guy make a chute mount along with their SFI cage as opposed to a bolt on setup.

Looking good. I was excited that they changed the design as well. What do us camaro street cars do for a mount?

Looks sweet KP, now you just have to get a pic of it in full bloom at the end of a run. Hey Memphis is coming up!
