Default How bad does alititude affect our cars?

I was just wondering this, because I'm going to the track for the first time Friday, and my friend says I don't need to worry about having a helmet because I wont run faster then 13.99. The track alt. is 3000 feet, but that kind of air still wont make our cars run that slow will it? I'm hoping for a 13.7, but this is also my first time out, and I don't want to aim to high. Anybody know what kind of times our cars run at higher altitude?
