Default When do you replace worn ET Streets?

I have 55 passes on my ET Streets and they seem to not hook anymore. My sixty times were consistently below 1.7 seconds but I’ve spun badly my last few runs. The wear indicators (the intermittent groves) are still present and the continuous groves are still more than one-eighth inch deep. The car has a new clutch but is otherwise unchanged. Do new ET Streets work much better than worn ET Streets?

i bought my et streets used and they had some passes on them but i wasnt sure how many. i now have probly around 20 passes on them plus street time. they only hook good with longer burnouts when i have been told they dont need longer burnouts only a light hazing. i still have some tread left on them as well, atleast an 1/8 inch!

i just bought new ET streets and the rubber feels alot softer than my old et streets so maybe they get harder as they get older and wear down. try longer burnout and see if it helps.

I think mine hooked better right before I replaced them. I ran them until the wear indicators were almost gone. Around 65 passes with street driving to and from track.

They can last a different # of passes depending on the car, the suspension and the amount of "beating" they take. Some cars will "shock" the tires more than others, and this can lead to the sidewall breaking down quicker. I've personally gotten upwards of 165 runs from a set of ET Street 28 x 11.5 x 15 on my Nova when it was 60 footing in the mid 1.50s, but some cars may get more or less than that. How long are your burnouts? That may also shorten their life by putting them though too many heat cycles if you burn them excessively.

My burnouts are somewhat inconsistent. I usually abort once the rear walks past 45 degrees. I pay more attention to the wall than the smoke. Lately I’ve started worrying about killing track personnel and probably haven’t been heating the tires enough. If that's the case then I don't need new tires, I just need to get my focus back. Thanks to all for the suggestions.

umm I run mine till I see threads I usualy don't catch them in time. I have raced seeing threads with 1.5x 60fts.

I usually put about 70 passes a week on mine and I think I replace them once around every 2.5-3 months. burnouts last about 10 seconds. I think..

I have noticed that if I do a burnout and then abort the pass, for some reason from that point on they wear alot faster.

My tire is 26x11.5-17 ET Steet

Thanks for the info. By your standards, my tires are still new.

Is that supposed to be 7 passes a week, 70 seems a little far fetched.

Nope that is 70.

Me and my grandfather double enter the car.

We haven't race this year as the car has been apart, but last year we raced 2-3 nights a week and both entered 2 classes. We got combined 6-8 time trials each night and we went on average 4 rounds per class. At least one of us were in the finals most of the time and a few times both of us. We're just bracket racing though. The year before last we raced at least 3 nights a week, tues fri and sat. Last year they changed friday to heads up but we went to another track sometimes on friday. You should see the timeslips I have

That would be over 600 passes on a set of ET streets in 2 1/2 months. I just dont see anyone getting that kind of life out them.

I am pretty sure thats right...
I will have the car back going again soon and I will soon need a set of tires. I will try to keep log of how many passes they last for sure and post it back up in this thread. It will probley be next year though as this season is almost over.
I know I don't do a major burnout though. I start in 1st gear and about 2 seconds after I get it to 6k RPM I shift to 2nd and bring it back to 6k then turn the linelock of and come out of the burnout so its not as much a burnout as I see some people doing but it works for me.
