Unhappy Went To The Track Today

Last Oct i went to the track and ran a 13.3 @ 108. This was on street tires and my slipping LS6 clutch

Last year Results......

R/T........ .750
60'....... 2.200
330'...... 5.821
1/8....... 8.750
MPH.... 84.44
1/4..... 13.310
MPH.... 108.20

One year later it was that time again. I went today. This time for mods i have a cam, UDP and P&P TB. Here are the results. Same tires and last year, and same SLIPPING clutch from last year. This time the clutch was a lot worse

anyways here are the results......

R/T........ .773
60'....... 2.348
330'...... 5.947
1/8....... 8.758
MPH.... 87.83
1000'... 11.138
1/4..... 13.114
MPH.... 113.06

You can see that pre cam i was .1 faster until the 1/8 mile, expect for the MPH. Then with the cam you can see that my car starts to hall ***..

Winter project, need to get me a damn clutch. my last run was so bad that the clutch fell to floor when i went to shift 2nd to third and did not come back up till i made the turn to exit the track. And that run was going better than the first one. Also it was nice to see that i finished the traps at the VERY VERY VERY top of 3rd gear. I hit the limiter, but i think i was a little passed the finish line

You car was slower in the 1/8th mile because you also ran a .148 slower 60ft.

How would you finish the 1/4 in 3rd gear? you should be going though the lights in fourth gear about to shift to fifth gear or just past your shift point.

113 mph is good, but 13.1@113 is pretty bad. What chassis mods do you have and what tires are you running?

I told you that it would be trapping 113 and your E.T. would suck. You need to get a good clutch in it and a drag radial to get some 1.9X 60fts. You are going to be seeing these times until you get a 12 bolt or 9" as well, due to the soft launches on the 10 bolt.

Yes my car was slower b/c of the 60' but i was 3mph faster at the end of the 1/8. Which tell you that the stock cam made more power under the curve. And with this cam it makes power little above the curve that is why i got a semil better E.T.

I finshed the traps in 3rd. I was there, BTW i still have stock 3.42s :p I think you were thinking that i had 4.10s.....

I know that a 113 mph is a good trap speed. But with street tires (khumos) and no LCA, PHB, SFC, TA or STB that is what you get lol......

That trap tells you that your car can go high 11s and certainly if was an auto car, it would go FASTER like mid to low 11s.

Good call Matt... I even went back to the thread that i created, you said 12.9 @ 113..........

My plan for next year is an LS7 clutch... I do have a kid on the way, so i dunno about a 12 bolt for know. In you opinion, 12 bolt or 9"????

Yup tell me about the soft launches i had to do.

I should PM you, you have great ideas and maybe we can talk more? I was able to get some time to talk to you at StraightLines open house... BTW did you ever get your intake fixed... i would imagine soo...

hmmmmm you really think so????

to be honest, i never looked at trap speeds at 11 second passes.... Maybe i will venture over there and read up.. trying to do this 1/4 pass 1 second at a time. first 13's, then 12's then 11's.... and will go from there

I told ya! I am wise beyond my years

I would go with a 9" if you're keeping the 6 speed.

PM me any questions you have. I'm here to help.

And yeah, we fixed the intake. She's running good now.

And FWIW, I trap mid 114 and run 11.70s with a 1.57 60ft, so yours definitely has potential. But I have an auto with a 4400 converter and 3.42 gears. It will be down in the low 11s by Chaos in Cordova on the 3rd

You ran more mph in the 1/8th with the new cam. Only reason you didn't run a faster ET at every point was because of the 60ft.

Like Matt said get a good rear end, slap on some good tires, upgrade your clutch and chassis and let it rip.

You would not run low 11's with an auto, 113 isn't enough mph to sustain that ET. I think the car will run about 11.80's would be my guess if you get the car to 60ft good.

One reason I said that because I ran 12.6 w/ low 107 MPH trap speed.

Either way, no matter how hard the car 60ft's it won't run that fast with 113 mph, just not enough power.
