Converter offset to full seat

Converter offset to full seat Anyone know how much a converter should be offset from the transmission mounting flange to ensure its fully seated? I'm coming up with .644-.650.
Don't know the exact measurement, but measure from the back of the block (where trans mates) to the face of the flexplate (where converter bolts up). That should be a little more than your measurement that you came up with. The measurement that you came up with will vary a bit depending on the converter. Some are a little thicker than others.
Another good way to check if the converter is seating all the way in the trans, is to take a dab of grease and put in one of the two notches on the converter snout (assuming this is a pg/350/400 converter), and see if the grease is compressing when you install it into the trans. Those two notches is where it engages the pump.

I was always taught 3/16" gap between plate & converter.
That's why we weld on spacers when adding mid plate.
If you still have too big of a gap, I use grade 8 washers.
