Default Hood question?

I have just a regular T/A hood, i'm wanting to get a ram-air hood and have it be lighter than my OEM one. My question is does anyone know what the regular oem hood wieghs? I'd like to get a fiberglass ram-air hood but im not sure if they're really any lighter than my regular one. thanx in advance

I dont know the exact weight, but when I took the stock sleek beak off it was deff a multi person job to move around. I mean you CAN pick it up with one person, but its NOT light by any means. I replaced with a WS9 Outlaw (bigger than WS6) fiberglass and it is very easy to move around by yourself. At least 15lbs lighter if not a lot more than that. Hope that helps somewhat.

thanx man, that does help alot, i think the hood is steel if im not mistaken and the ws6 hood is fiberglass-i think someone said the regular hood is 50 lbs but i could be wrong. Did you get your WS9 from VFN?

Well all the OEM hoods are made of the same material and very heavy (in comparison to), any aftermarket hood is going to be fiberglass or carbon fiber. My hood from VFN (actually got it from a member here) is fiberglass and therefore much lighter than any OEM hood out there. I think thats basically what you are looking for.

If its worth anything an SS hood weighs in at about 47lbs

FYI - Just weighed my steel Trans Am hood and it was 43 lbs.

My stock ws6 hood was over 40lbs.+latch, hinges etc
My pin on vfn hood is 13lbs.
I personally wouldn't order anything from vfn ever again but that's another story.
