Shocks def, but not the R's.....you'll regret it -IMO-

You want something that is double adj -in the front especially, so you can control both rebound and compression which is crucial for a proper launch. I realize it is a gift, and that DA shocks are $$$, but trust those who have done it wrong the first time. Get DA shocks and never look back!!!!

AFCO DA's are $$$$ but very nice (what I have). Look into HAL QA1 DA shocks. Worth the dough. There are other brands too but they are even more than AFCOs. PM me if you have any questions or want to order, we can help.

Good luck
Erik

ps- your rear shocks will do, though DA would be the best. Like I said, the fronts should be double adjustable in my honest opinion. When you launch hard on good tires, you want proper weight transfer. You may not be able to accomplish this if you cannot control what your shocks do when traveling UP and DOWN.

Erik, I understand where you're coming from as DA shocks offer more tunability vs SA shocks, but it isn't the end of the world if he gets the "R"s in front with the fixed compression and adjustable rebound. There are PLENTY of cars out there that are running faster than some of those with DAs. Look at KP. He has a F1 procharged 347 LS1 that is going 8.90s with Strange SA shocks up front, and $50 Comp Engineering shocks in back.

Unless you are going for MAX EFFORT with your setup, the singles will work just fine and save you money for other things.

Sometimes I wish I had DA shocks, I had some and sold them a while back because I was too lazy to put them on. But I make do with whats on there.

If you have the $$ the DA shocks are a no brainer, if you dont have the cash then I would take a set of SA shock over the stockers any day. Are SA's the bestest most awesomest shocks in the world? No, but plenty of people run fast with QA1 Rs ot Strange SA shocks.

I would do shocks before K-member. I really like the Strange SA fronts, thats what I run. I believe they are cheaper then the QA1's. Here's my parts list in case your interested in doing the same:

(2) SA Strange Drag shocks from SJM manufacturing $146 each
(2) Torrington bearings- Some people use never sieze instead, when you start adjusting the ride height without these it will be a horrible pain in the ***. I believe these were $20 or so from Steve @ SJM
(1) GOOD spanner wrench( not a cheap piece of ****, once you start installing you will thank me) I bought one from a speed shop local, it was a piece of crap...luckily a friend had a good one
(1) Pair of BMR spring cups to use stock springs $60, I used these rather then buy new springs.
