How should I get off the line in my automatic?
At the line a good technique is to preload the converter by keeping your foot on the brake and bringing up the rpm a little bit. A good reason to do this is to prolong the life of your transmission (i.e., it lessens the shock of the launch), but don't keep the revs up longer than necessary (you'll heat up the tranny fluid).
At launch, lift from the brake as quickly as possible and gradually bring the throttle to the floor (say, over the first second or two; you'll have to feel out the launch). Unless the track is very well prepped, your tires will spin if you floor it, and you'll waste the run.
