Default Extra Motor?

Hey guys,

I'm tossing around the idea of pulling my stock motor, and replacing it with a 408" built for nitrous.

Why? Because then I'll still have my stock block ready, and I'll be able to spray a LOT more than the 150 I planned on.

Or is this just a stupid idea? Run the stock block until it blows?

Yeah I could pull the stock block (20k miles) and sell it to help offset the cost of a new motor...but I'm the guy who just saves everything, so it'll sit in the corner of my garage until I think of something else to do with it.

Has anybody else done this? thought about this?

opinions?

I'd sell the stock motor and us it to offset the build price on a nice practical priced FI motor

buy a 408 and th400, then put your ls1 and t56 in something like an rx-7. I think that would be bad ***. One day i will own a LSX powered rx-7.

Depends on your finacial obligations, if you can afford to keep it around with out it being in the way why not do it?

If you need the money for the new build or just don't have room to store it, then sell it.

I'd save it for a rainy day. If you get rid of it you will regret it whenever you tear up the 408 and you are sitting in your garage thinking "man I wish I could drive my car".

i agree..

im building a complete new motor on the camaro and instead of leaving the stocker alone i pulled it apart.. now its sitting in parts around the shop while the new motor parts will start arriving in 1 or 2 months.

now i wish i had never pulled the stocker till the new one arrived.. i could be having fun right now.

Thanks guys!!

Thats the opinion I have....if something breaks, I'm going to want to at least drive the car.

I'm getting quotes for a new 408, so we'll see if the wallet will agree to it
