Default Wheel Stands

When you watch a car come out of the hole with the front wheels high in the air is that a sign of anything?

Too much too little tire spin?

Just wants to put on a show for their friends?

Likes to replace front end parts?

Something else?

Does this help or hurt the et?

Coming out too high actually will hurt ET, you want it on the rear tires, just enough so the car hooks, you don't really want it climbing to the sky. Also is very hard on parts when it comes back down.

Usually this is caused by the instant center being too aggressive for the track, or someone added a bunch of power and didn't adjust for it properly, or they like to put on a show.

If you can get the car to leave with all 4 on the ground, it would be the fastest way since no motion is being wasted by lifting the nose, but usually you have to get the front tires off a little for traction reasons.

Nothing tops the feeling of taking off and only seeing the track lights...

Launching a car is physics, any unnecessary motion will slow the maximum potential of the car. There are a lot of things that go into making a car wheel stand or not, weight distribution, power, weight transfer, instant center and wheel base are the key factors into whether a car will leave like a pro stock car or be on the bumper like a super stock car.

It you want to avoid wheel stands the instant center, shock settings and front end travel limiting are the basic ways to stop it from happening. You can also add weight to the front.

Wheelie bars obviously help, but you can also play with tire pressure to have a little more tire spin.

Although you don't have to hook dead up to pull the tires, I had videos of my old car pulling the tires and you can hear and see the back tires spinning when it took off on the nitrous even though it had the tires a foot and a half off the ground.
