Default Open Car Trailer, Ramp Help!

So what are you guys using for ramps on yours? Mine look like there to short and the nose of the TA is hitting about half way up.Tried backing on the ramps and ended up with the same problem. I circled where it hits at so you guys have an idea...

When I had that problem, I used a couple of 2x4's under the ends of the ramp and 2 4' long 2x6's. It was a pain... I now use the U-Haul trailer when I need one. It's the only one I've used that I can drive right on to.

I had that problem all last year. I had short ramps also and had to jack the front of the trailer up and put wood under the front of the ramps. I just ordered new ramps 6 feet long from an online site in PA. PM me if you want the site info.

If your trailer doesn't have drop axles you can always pick up a set and then raise your trailer fenders a little. Drop axles normally lower the trailer 4-6" depending on what you get and then your rear ramps are not at a big angle like they are now.

I use the trailer jack and get the tongue up as high as reasonably possible, then I use some long 2x10's on top of my existing ramps. Its still really close, and I have a dovetail. Even if you got the nose up there I'd bet you'll catch something under the car halfway up since you don't have a dovetail.

My headers used to scrape on another trailer and we'd just back the truck up onto ramps... That should at least buy you some room then use wood under the ramps to get more.

Couple 4 foot boards on teh ends of the ramps will help. NOt sure what kidn of trailer that is, but it doesn't have the "beavertail" like my Brimar does. The back 36 inches of my brimar is tilted downwards to help wtih ground clearnace, works good too. I'm going to try the ramp trick to see if that will eliminate the need for the boards, if it does then i will probably start doing that just because it seems like it may be easier to deal with when I'm alone.

I didn't have any dragging problems initially. With a 27 inch rear tire and the front at stock ride height it would load mo problems without hitting at all. When I lowered the front an inch, still no problems, went to a 28 inch rear tire, now the nose is pitched down a little and it will run if I don't use the boards.

I used to do Rhino Ramps, but they didn't work too well at my local track (dirt pit area).

I now just have a 4x4 hunk of wood that I put under my trailer tongue jack, and crank the tongue jack up. Works fine. My trailer has a dovetail though, looks like yours doesn't, so you may need the full lift of the Rhino Ramps.

I had to use longer ramps and crank the jack up all the way at stock ride height. I'm about 1.5" lower now.

I made some extensions out of some 2X12's. I cut a 2.5' piece for the bottom, 1.5' piece for the middle, and a 6" piece for the top. I just place the current ramps on top of these to lessen the ramp angle. I got the idea from a post on here.
