Default Project finally finished!!

Thought I would post a few pics of my project that is nearing completion. It has been a very long time coming! Mainly because of being on a tight budget and my wife keeps me on a short leash!!

The car started out as basically just a body shell that had some accident damage. Originally it was from Houston Texas and from what I understand a kid hit a tree with it. I bought it from Tim at EAD performance about 4.5 years ago.

It is a pretty mild setup compared to some of the killer stuff on this board but I am still pretty happy with how it turned out. I tried to fabricate as much of the car as I could myself and this website has been an incredible source of information and help. I take pride in the fact that I can say this car was built in my garage by me. I fabricated the nine inch rear, torque arm & mount, LCA's, panhard bar, front ram air induction. It also has lots of weight reduction (#'s to follow) including AJE k member, race brakes front and rear, manual steering and brakes, butchered SS hood (bottom cut off and dzus fastened-don't worry the hood was damaged so I didn't cut up a pristine hood!!), interior is strictly business (no radio, lightweight carpet, no heat).

Basically it is a cam only car using a Trex and most of the popular bolt ons including an EWP, LS6 intake, underdrive crank pully, hooker long tubes...

I am really looking forward to having some fun with this car. I hope that it will be reliable enought to get some enjoyment out of it. Hell, right now I can't stop smiling when I back it out of the garage to wash it. To bad my wife and my neighbours don't share my enthusiasm.

Sorry for the long post. LS1tech rules!!!!

Lets hope the pics work.

Yah I know what you mean by being kept on a short leash. My girl had me on lock for a while!

We want to see the stuff you made, that's what I'm always impressed by. The stuff that people make/do themselves.

Thanks for the comments guys. I wish I had a few pics of the rear and torque arm. I swear I must have 60-70 hrs in those two pieces alone. When you consider what my time is worth I probably should have bought them. I just hope they will be reliable. The LCA's and panhard rod were built using alluminum tubing from a racing supply company.

I know I need to get the car to sit down a bit. Front Strange D/A's are next on the wish list.

How much did you narrow the rear compared to a drop in 9 inch housing? What size and backspacing are the wheels?

The wheels have a 4" backspacing. I can't tell you exactly how much the rear is narrowed b/c I didn't cut it, it is out of an old ford. Also I guess the offset on the axles plays a role. From what I have read on here the rear must be 3.5-4" shorter/side compared to stock.

I guess I should have taken some pics. I had that bloody rear in and of the car so many times to double and triple check everything I was getting sick of looking at it to be honest.
Thanks for the positive comments.

Congrats on completing your build. The car I'm putting together is almost identical except I have a Sunoco style hood.

I hope you guys don't think I am a douche for doing this but I thought I would post a few pics of the rear end and a few more pics of the car since the last post. I had the rear out to make a change to the lca mounts. I also updated my signature. This past year I race in the NMCA at their Milan event in the Late Model EFI class and had a blast. I hope to hit a few more events next year.

I can't wait for winter to be over. Only three more months!!
