Default Roll bar question

According to this diagram below. It states that the driver's helmet must be a maximum of 6" from the bar. Well in my case that is impossible

I'm only 5'0 tall

So my seat is mounted very close to the steering wheel.

What do I do??

It's so your head is protected in a rollover, if you're too far from the bar it won't stop teh car from crushing on you.

You can move the main hoop foreward some, that is your only real option. You need a 6 pt too, that 5 pt is for nhra, epping won't like it.

the late model f-body is so aero dynamic that the body rolling in you need to move aftermarket seats over towards the trans tunnel to put you more in the center of the hoop! to get you closer to that 6'' that they want you to be within.

Mount the seat in the car, adjust it so you can reach the pedals and steering wheel with your head fully against the seat without a helmet, then put your helmet on, then see how far back your head sits, then adjust the main hoop to be within 6" from the back of your helmet to the front of the main hoop bar. There is no rule that says your head has to be close to the top.

The 5" rule they are talking about hight wise means that the two rear bars that go into the hatch area, can not be mounted lower than 5" from the top of the main hoop.

So being short is ok as long as the bar is moved forward.

Marco, if your only going with a 6 point and don't plan to convert it to a 10 point at any time, then you could probably get away with being more than 6". The car doesn't have to be certed or even gone over that well unless your getting a permanent IHRA number for the year. So they probably wouldn't check it in the general tech lines. If your running mostly at NED, maybe give Joe a call and tell him what the situation is.

Edit: Lol, you could do like my dad used to do circle track racing. He used to tape pink hard foam blocks to his boots in order to reach the pedals. Him and his good friend used to run the same Super Stock car.

I'm gonna do what I was going to do. If they give me a hard time about it, I'll go 10 pt with a halo around my head

After looking I'm actually not as far away from the roll bar as I thought. I'm actually real close to it

Don't mind me
