Default On/Off Switch.. How to keep the computer hot 24/7??

I have been meaning to ask this question for a long long time now, but I always forget so here goes.. lol

If you have an on/off switch or battery disconnect switch on your car does that not "RESET" the computer every time you turn it off?? I would assume this does the same thing as disconnecting the battery terminals to reset the computer right?? If I am correct and I think that I am does this not hurt the performance somewhat? I know from prior experience that it takes these pcms a little time to learn and figure out whats going on especially with a custom tune.. I know you don't lose the tune or anything like that I just think that it takes the computer a little while to get back in sync for lack of a better word..

So.. If you have a race car and you go to the track you turn the power on and go race. If that computer was just "Reset" then you could possibly be taking a risk everytime you do that? Say you have a nitrous motor and a nitrous tune then you "reset" the computer and go out there and spray a 300 shot on it and the computer is still trying to get everything straight after it was "reset".. You can't be getting the best results can you??

I'm assuming that I would need to run a hot wire from the battery itself to the computer in order to fix this.. Or is this pointless and I'm just over thinking this.. lol What do you guys think???

i would think the only time you have to worry about it is if someone messes with your car and shuts it off on you.........you wont be playing with it, and the track guys will only hit it if you have much bigger problems than the tune .....

wont most tunes stay in the computer anyway? i know i have no problems with my tune when i have the battery out of the car and put it back in?

I am not worried about someone turning it off or playing games with it.. Thats not what this post is about.. I just know that I have seen some computers take a while to learn after you tune on them and I "believe" that certain things that are stored can be lost when you reset the pcm.. For instance if you want to get rid of a check engine light you just disconnect the battery and reset the computer. It doesn't delete the custom tune or anything like that, but it does something and I want to know if that "something" is worth worrying about before it causes some problems.. If I am completely wrong then thats even better cause I dont have to **** with it then..

Usually when my computer gets reset the only they may take a second to come back into line is the idle, and your fuel trims will reset...WOT should not be affected.

Plus hopefully if someone does hit the kill switch, you are on your lid with all sorts of other **** to worry about. Well not hopefully

Yeah I was hoping that at wide open there would be nothing to worry about.. It does take a minute or so for the idle to straighten itself out..
