Default How to hook up on nitto 555r

How do i hook up on a nitto 555r tire? I went to the track and all i could manage was 2.2 60 foots at 15 psi. I need help becasue i am running like 13.65 w/o nitrous. If i get my 60 foot times like at 2 flat what do u think i should be able to run with nitrous and without nitrous?

Must have some pretty bad track prep there or your blowing your tires off. I am gettin 2.2 60's on Yokohama Avids.Try heating them up better. Make sure you stay out of the water.Don't hit the juice right out of the hole. Walk off the clutch instead of dumping it.

It'd probably help if you describe your launching procedure.

Pressure seems low. This is not a slick. 24 psi worked best for me (1.71 best 60' on a 99% stock suspension car), but everyone's setup is different.

I've been 1.59 on 315's at 14psi. BUT, that's with an automatic. Trying to get a 6spd to hook with Nitto's will take ALOT of practice and good track prep.

My launching procedure starts with avoiding the water box and then basically just spinning the tires to get smoke then i let off. At the light i rev to 3,000 rpm and just drop the clutch. Then the car bogs down to about 2,300 rpm and then i go.

Nittos need to be hot.. You need to use the water.

1. Drive around and back into the water box.
2. Pull forward of the water box and lightly spin the tires over.
3. Put the car in 2nd gear and dump the clutch at high rpm.
4. Burn the tires until you see smoke then count to 5.

This is the best way I have found for the Nittos. Have been 1.6 on mine and seen many a car do the same with this technique.

I agree with 99taws6, but why dump the clutch at high rpm in 2nd gear? I do exactly what you said but in 1st gear. Just curious to learn the advantage of a 2nd gear burnout.

I back into the water. dump the clutch and spin the tires unitl i get out of the water(nitto's at 24psi) stage and rev it up to around 3k rpm. then slightly pop the clutch. I am going to be a little more aggressive next time out. But dont pop the clutch real hard or the rear will probably pop to. Hope that helps.

2nd gear allows you to have more mph in your burnout.. This makes it smoke/heat the tires more, less rpm needed as well...

You are shooting yourself in the foot. When you spin the tires in the water, it shoots it all over your inner wheel well/fender, then when you pull up to stage, you have water dripping on your tires. That is why you back into, then roll out, spin em' over slightly and then do the burnout....

I just pulled a 1.709 with my Nitto's on a stock suspension. I hit the line lock in the box, rev it up and let them burn for about 5-7 secs with 23lbs of pressure in each tire.
