Best flywheel for DRAG RACING
Best flywheel for DRAG RACING I have a 99 corvette FRC with boltons and soon to be cam only and eventually heads. the only racing i do is drag racing i need a clutch now that i have my MT et street radials. 2 questions one whats the best clutch for drag racing and what is the best flywheel. i once ran a aluminum flywheel on my old car and had to raise my launch rpm's by a grand just to get off the line. so if i get just say a spec 2+ or 3+ what is best flywheel for drag racing. also i do not dump my clutch when i launch i slip it just a little and once the car starts to move i quickly let out and hit it! so what clutch and flywheel will allow a little slip i have heard the spec hits hard when you engage it is that true? i guess i had more than 2 questions lol. its a lot of money to get a clutch so i hope to only do it once at least for a little while. thanks guys!
People have been having alot of luck with the Textralia OZ700 and the Cartek. There is alot of back and forth about the Spec clutches, to be honest.
The flywheel would have alot to do with weight of your car. You don't want it too light for a drag car, you need the mass to move the vehicle off the line.
Oh when you get a good clutch and a tire like that, i should hope you are doing a lil more than slipping it off the line, that will kill any clutch fast.

thanks i am looking at both right now leaning towards the cartek new setup with the ls2 flywheel. anyone using the new cartek do you like it ect...i just dont want to add weight to the flywheel unless it will help me get off the line better.
Im have been using the CARTEK clutch since 2002. I love them. Had very generation in the car from the first to the new one with the LS2 flywheel.
I think todays CARTEK clutch is awesome, light pedal feel, and I can shi(f)t really fast with a stock t-56. I launch anywhere from 6000 to 7000 RPM and it never slips.
