Default Virgin Question

Ok, I read both the stickies up top. Now I have never been to the track and wanted to go on a test and tune night just to see where I am at. 2 Questions:

1) Do I have to have a helmet for a test and tune (I don't know what I'll run but I am guessing in 13-14 range)?

2) I have an auto, so how do I do a burnout...or do I need to? (right now I only chirp the tires when I got WOT from a dig / on the 1-2 shift...no serious spinning).

Thanks in advance.

I think i can help you out ! If you run 13's you are gonna need a helmet plus its just praticing good safety you never know what can happen. The whole burnout thing if your on street tires dont waste your tread, when i go to the track and i watch these guys burn there stock tires off i tend to laugh no real advantage to heating up your factory radials.Just go out there and have some fun!!!

most tracks are 13:99 and quicker require helmets.
i NEVER go through the burnout box with street tires, drag radials included. go around the burnout box, back up a bit to line the car up in the groove, then clean off the tires(small burnout)and roll foward to the pre-stage light...
good luck and have fun! post up your times

Thats exactly what I do and I have no problems hooking on street tires. If you've never been to the track before, take some time and watch some other people run and you will get the hang of it. Good luck!

Drive around the water box then straighten the car out and just hold down the brake a bit and floor it to spin the tires in 1st gear, you just want to clean off the rocks and stuff no need to smoke them.

Line up in the middle of the lane and then roll forward some until you see the first light come on, then check all your gauges, then roll forward some till the second light comes on and hold down the brake some and get the rpm up a little bit and when the last yellow of the 3 flashing bulbs turns on floor it and let off the brake at the same time.
