Default Help with how to launch.

First of all, I am new to drag racing, but I am already an addict.

I have a 99 LS1 with lid, slp cat back, Nitto 555R drag 305/55/18's that bite hard, a built 6 spd, and 150 spray coming in at 2800/ out at 5800. My best run last week,(first time), was 13.01 @ 108. My 60 ft. was 2.55
Drag bags have been installed.
What can I do to get this thing to start launching and running like it should?

Tried to launch on motor (5500)and it just fell on it's face.
Launched on spray at 4K and spun. I was thinking someone could help me sort this out to save some frustration on how to launch.

Slip the clutch... I'd also be wary of putting the spray to it at 2800 rpms.... i'd say no less than 3K to make sure you have enough vacuum into the engine to pull the fuel and nitrous into the cylinders....

Nitto 555R drag 305/55/18's that bite hard
They ain't biting that hard if you're running 2.55 60' times! What I would do in your application if you want to save your rearend is leave off idle, slip the clutch and mash it..... The nitrous should come on an instant later and you should be able to run at LEAST a 2.0 like that.... I think you're hitting those tires too hard. they are 18's with no sidewall.... they aren't going to like being shockloaded like that... leave off idle, slip the clutch and on green WOOD it..... your spray will come on and the tires since you are already moving should hook up and you'll chop a half second off those times...

Or bring it to sacramento and let me drive it...

and set some money aside for a new 10 bolt cuz soon you're gonna need it. If not already after those 5500 RPM launches....

You haven't mentioned about what rearend your useing, i hope its a good one, because VERY soon doing what your doing your launch & 60fts. will be the LEAST of your worries.

Hey, were neighbors, i'm down in Branson, maybe i'll see you at the track.

I see a 9" in my future. It is part of the larger plan.

GOOD, because its just a matter of time LOL

As for the launch, i pulled off a 2.17 on street tires, i'm sure i would have gotten in the 2.0s, this was after 2 trips to the track, my 1st. time out was 2.5/2.6s lol, Just ride out the clutch as fast as possible without dumping it, leave at a lower RPM, try between 22-2500 & once the clutch is out "hammer it", now on the juice, leave the same way but delay the hammer because those nittos aren't the best for traction, have fun & hope to see you there, i'll be going (hopefully next friday night, not this friday) to test out my new 9" & 4.11s , maybe i can borrow your Nitto's, i don't think my Coopers are going to do so well. I'm asumeing you go to Ozark Dragway right?? Look for this car if you go.

I do. These DR's are very tight fitting if you want to try them. I should be out there next weekend. My name is Sam.

Just a note, reaction time has nothing to do with ET, the timer doesn't start untill you break the beam.
